Spirit of Aberdeen Hall video

Aberdeen Hall has a broad, balanced and enriched curriculum. Through the expertise of our dedicated and talented teachers, pupils are extended beyond the basic learning objectives of the BC Curriculum. The curriculum is designed to teach an outstanding knowledge base and advanced skill set; preparing them to a high standard for the next stage in their academic careers. Specialist subject-specific teachers in Drama, Music, PE, Spanish and French further enrich our curriculum and allow the talents of individual students to flourish. Link: Our Curriculum

Partnership with Parents

Aberdeen Hall firmly believes that parents should play an active role in their child’s education. Parent/teacher conferences are held each term and parents are encouraged to visit their child’s Homeroom and/or Specialist Teachers if there are any queries or questions about their child’s education.
Aberdeen Hall has a very active Parent’s Guild which organizes numerous social and fundraising events throughout the year. Parents are encouraged to join the guild and participate in the events. Link: Aberdeen Hall Parents Guild

Dedicated Staff

The teachers and administration staff work very closely to ensure that every student feels confident, happy and secure. We all believe that school should be a ‘happy place’ where children can express themselves and try new experiences without fear or ridicule. At Aberdeen Hall, our teachers are selected for their caring nature and commitment to student growth. Link: Faculty and Staff

Personal Attention

We aim to develop the potential of each and every child. Small classes allow our teachers to get to know each student and support them academically and socially. Classroom instruction accommodates the different levels of development and extra-curricular activities allow different areas of talent to flourish.  We also work to get to know all of the families in our community.

Creativity

The school is establishing a strong reputation in the performing arts. A love of music is encouraged. Students in Grade 3 learn to play the recorder. In Grade 4 and up all students learn a musical instrument and play in the school band. Music lessons begin in Kindergarten and students from Grade 2 are encouraged to sing in the choir.

Drama, which is taught from Kindergarten, helps children to grow in confidence, develop communication skills and creative expression. We provide opportunities to take part outside of the classroom and in school-wide productions. The new school will have an amphitheatre which will allow for more creativity in productions.

The visual arts help every child, whatever their ability, to develop creative skills and an alternative means of expression. Students are encouraged to work in a variety of materials and with careful guidance many exceed their expectations. Link: Clubs

Unique Opportunities

Aberdeen Hall aims to offer challenging opportunities for all students whether academically, culturally or in the physical environment. Our clubs programme is changed every term to provide interesting new learning opportunities. Activities such as fieldtrips aim to enhance the classroom learning. Outward bound trips help to develop cooperation and leadership skills.  Link: Clubs

Community Spirit

Everyone at Aberdeen Hall believes that a child will flourish in a safe and nurturing environment. The mix of boys and girls, the wealth of opportunities, the excellent staffing ratios, the small classes and the feeling of community ensure students can enjoy and get the most out of their time at Aberdeen Hall.

Every student, the very youngest to the oldest, is assigned to a House. An active house system operates to engender team spirit and promote positive competition in sport, the arts and academic achievement. Our ‘Outreach’ programme educates students in the broader meaning of community. Many take part in activities to support local, national and international charities. Our aim is to develop global citizens who wish to benefit our world.  Link: Outreach Programme

Our aim is to provide an excellent level of academics to ensure our students acquire the qualifications necessary for them to enter the university that is right for them.  We are also committed to developing our students’ social skills and character education so they become happy and contributing citizens.
