Robotics Overview

A fun-filled excursion in robotics takes place weekly as part of the robotics club for Grades 7 to 9.  Students work with LEGO NXT Robotics kits to construct and program robots of increasing complexity.  Programming is based on a graphics icon format and is simple to learn.  Once students have constructed basic robots that come with the kits, they have the opportunity to construct and program their own original creations.

Goals

• Real-world, hands-on problem solving experience.
• Fostering team work and leadership.
• Motivating the students to pursue engineering or science.
• Basic exposure to software development.
• Basic exposure to electronics and mechanics.
• Participating in regional, national, and international junior Robocup rescue and soccer challenges.
