Music – Senior Band
At Aberdeen Hall furthering the enjoyment of music is paramount. Students learn in a positively charged environment and will not only do well but thrive in band. In our band programme the aim is to give students a practical enjoyment of music. We do this through positive enforcement. Students will not only learn new skills but also apply skills already learnt such as language – Italian is used in music to give instruction for example Forte = loud, moderato = moderate tempo. Math also plays a major part in practical music for example, time signatures and note values. Multi tasking is a big part of playing an instrument for example, reading music, using the right keys, valves or position and following written and visual instructions all at the same time. Self discipline is also encouraged through individual practice.
New students joining Aberdeen Hall are encouraged to join the band and a personal programme will be provided to ensure they meet with success. Grade Seven students who do not wish to pursue a band instrument can elect to join the guitar programme.
Students will;
- Attend Okanagan Symphony concerts
- Perform at elementary schools
- Perform at school events for example; Remembrance Day, Citizenship Ceremony, Celebration of Education
- Regular school concerts
