Horizons Week 2010
Salt Spring Adventure
Dear Parents,
We are excited to announce the itinerary for the Grades 7, 8 and 9 Horizon week trip which will be taking place May 11, 2009 to June 3rd , 2010.
Travel
We will be traveling on a chartered bus provided by Western Bus Lines.
Accommodations
The students will taking part in a Gulf Island Sampler Program, which has been designed for us by the Salt Spring Adventure Company.
Cost
We have made every effort to make the cost of our Horizon’s Week affordable. The expert guides, and specialized instruction received on this adventure is second-to-none. It will truly be a unique and inspirational experience for all the participants. The cost for the trip will be $450.00 per student. This price includes transportation. The Salt Spring Adventure Company will provide all necessary meals and equipment during our stay with them. In addition, students will need to pack a bagged snacks for the first day of the trip and will require their own spending money for a meals. Please note: students are not required to bring additional spending money (students will only require money for purchasing food items while on the ferry). It is very important parents realize chaperones will be diligent in ensuring inappropriate materials are not purchased, but cannot be responsible for personal funds or for purchases made by students with their own money.
Clothing
While on this excursion, school uniforms are not required. However, as this is an outdoor education trip, a detailed packing list will be provided prior to our departure.
Supervision
Three staff members will be accompanying students on the trip to provide supervision at approximately a 9:1 student to supervisor ratio. During the Salt Spring Adventure excursion, expert guides and instructors will supervise. Parents will not be required for this trip.
Electronic Devices
Personal electronic devices such as cell phones, cameras, electronic game systems and mp3 players are packed at the students’ own risks. We strongly suggest that all such items be left at home as we cannot ensure that these items will not be lost, misplaced, etc. throughout the trip. Additionally, large electronic items such as computers and personal dvd players will not be allowed on the trip.
Information Meeting
We will be having a meeting closer to the time of the trip to share more information and answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding the trip. Please do not hesitate in contacting the school if you have any questions regarding this excursion.
Please complete the attached and waiver and submit it with a $225.00 deposit by March 25, 2010. The balance of the cost of the trip will be required by May 7th, 2010.
