Grade Three
Grade 3
The Third Grade Program aims to enable students to become independent thinkers while building on and expanding the basic skills acquired in previous grades. This is a year when writing is developed in all its forms, problem-solving skills are expanded in Mathematics, and the themes of Stars and Planets, Structures and Materials and Plant Life are studied in Science.
Grade Three highlights:
·We experience pioneer life at O’Keefe’s Ranch, learn about space at a planetarium, visit an orchard to learn about plant life
·We learn to construct and create a power point presentation
·We take part in the school wide public speaking competition, Spelling Bee and Readathon
Students testimonial:
If you are in a lower grade than Grade 3, come to Aberdeen Hall in Grade 3. Our teacher is one of the best teachers I have had. In Math we do geometry, in Science we are learning about structures and in Music we play recorders. -Casni
Grade 3 is the best grade ever. My teacher’s are awesome. Our new school , that is really big is so much better than our old facility. I really love playing on our new playground and field. I love the view from the classroom windows out to the mountains. -Tatum
At Aberdeen Hall we have had some field trips like the science centre, the YMCA, skating and UBC-O. My favourite subject is math, we have just started geometry and we have just finished patterning and place value. I have made many friends at Aberdeen Hall School. -Simon
Parent testimonial:
It’s great to see the enthusiasm that Mrs. Egan brings to the classroom. The teacher’s ability to focus on each child’s individual needs is a key to my child’s success. Not only is my child challenged academically each day, but also has learned key interpersonal skills required to be a leader of tomorrow. -Joslynn Bazinet (Grade Three parent)
