Grade  One

In Grade One the students continue to explore and discover various forms of reading and writing. Creative writing, simple research, letters, journal entries, speech arts and reading responses are some of the Language Arts activities they will engage in. In Science the Grade One students create models, classify objects and experiment as they investigate; Daily and Seasonal Changes, Plants and Animals and Force and Motion. Math concepts are reinforced through the use of manipulatives, games, role playing and problem solving activities.

  • The Integrated Rain Forest Unit
  • The Money Store (Math)
  • Scientist of the Week
  • Creating Pop-Up Books
  • Reading Around the World Celebrations
  • Field Trips especially the EECO centre, Okanagan Science Centre and Children’s Festival
  • The School Spelling Bee
  • Speech Arts Event
  • P.E. ( Swimming, Skating and UBCO stations)
  • Mystery Reader
  • Eureka Science Day
