Aberdeen Hall Public Speaking Competition
When: Friday, April 20th, 2012
What it is:
Students from Grades 4 to 7 are invited to participate in a speech competition at Aberdeen Hall.
Each grade will have a specific topic.
Topics:
Grade 4: Prepare a 2 – 3 minute speech on the adventures you would take if you were a space tourist.
Grade 5: Prepare a 2 – 3 minute speech on what your life would be like if you were a historical figure or a character from your favorite novel. Tell about an event as if it happened to you as that person. For example, explain about how your first day of school was, as Harry Potter.
Grade 6: Prepare a 3 – 4 minute speech on the most inspirational person you know, and talk about what they do that inspires you.
Grade 7: Prepare a 3 – 4 minute persuasive speech on an important social issue. For example, you can speak about whether or not you think certain video games are too violent, and the effect that can have upon some people.
Registration is open for 1 – 5 students per grade, per school.
Registration fee: $10 per student, to cover costs of food and prizes.
Cheques can be made payable to Aberdeen Hall Preparatory School.
Deadline for registration is Friday, March 2, 2012.
Please email jennifer.cowling@aberdeenhall.com to register. Email registration should include the name and grade of participating students, the school they are representing, and the cheque amount.
