FAQ’s
Is Aberdeen Hall a private company?
No, Aberdeen Hall is an independent school and is a not-for-profit, charitable organization governed by a Board of Directors, who in turn have hired a full time Head of School to manage the day-to-day operations.
Our charity number is 85908 7348 RT0001
We pay tuition, why is there a Development Programme?
Tuition is designed to cover the school’s normal operating costs including; teacher salaries, rent, building maintenance, general equipment and an extensive list of smaller items needed to run a school. The Development Programme provides funds that can be channeled directly into programming excellence and the creation of inspirational facilities.
Who decides how the money is spent?
Many of our programs are designed to meet specific needs, so the donors are essentially making these decisions. For monies that are not specifically directed, the Finance Committee consults with the staff and administration, and makes recommendations to the school’s Board of Directors on how the resources are managed. The Board of Directors ultimately sets and approves the school’s budgets. Considerable efforts are made to balance the fundraising contributions across the different age groups and departments.

When will the whole campus be complete?
Based on current enrollment and projections of future enrollment, our goal is to have the entire campus completed within ten years.
How will the school provide all of the services needed by students as it completes the entire campus?
Each building will be flexible enough in design to allow for all needs to be met at all times. In addition to this, we have agreements with UBC-O to make their facilities available to the school. Their brand new gymnasium, sports courts, library and other facilities are just a few of the areas we are utilizing.
Is there a for-profit business involved in any way in the school or in this project?
No, all societies set up for the school are non-profit, registered charities within the meaning of the Income Tax Act and are meant only for the benefit of our students. All Board and commitee members are volunteers who put in many hours on behalf of the school at no charge.
